Alla Kalyta

Doctor of Philology, Professor of the Department of The Department of Theory, Practice and Translation of the French.

In 1968, she graduated from the Faculty of English at the Kyiv State Pedagogical Institute of Foreign Languages (now Kyiv National Linguistic University) with a degree in English and French.

In 1984, she defended her PhD thesis on “Intonation of statement statements in English monologue and dialogue speech (an experimental phonetic study)”. In 1989, she was awarded the academic title of Associate Professor at the Department of Phonetics of the English Language.

In 2003, she defended her doctoral dissertation on the topic “A system of phonetic means of actualising the meaning of a statement (an experimental phonetic study of English emotional speech)”. In 2004, she was awarded the academic title of Professor of the Department of Phonetics of the English Language.

She has also held the position of Head of the Department:

1987-2007 – Department of English Phonetics at the Kyiv State Pedagogical Institute of Foreign Languages (now Kyiv National Linguistic University);

from 2008 to 2012 – Department of English Theory, Practice and Translation at the National Technical University of Ukraine “Kyiv Polytechnic Institute”).
